Thursday, May 18 - Mathematics Summer Challenge

Summer Math Activities

Research has shown that summer reading loss seems to be associated with household income. However, summer learning loss in mathematics is greater AND happens regardless of socioeconomic status. To help prevent the loss of math skills over the summer months, the Summit Parkway Middle School Math Department has created summer math calendars for each grade level. Each calendar has one problem for each day. Problems will address a wide range of skills.

For additional practice, The Summer Math Challenge is a FREE math skills maintenance program based on grade-level standards that help prepare students for college and careers. The program is targeted to students who have just completed grades 1 through 8 and is designed to help kids retain math skills learned during the previous school year. Please click on the link to the website below for more information.

~Six weeks, email-based initiative
~Parents receive daily emails of fun activites and resources from July 19-July 28
~Focus each week on math concepty and relevant to everyday life.

Thursday, May 18 - Summer ELA Activites

SPMS Summer ELA Enrichment Activities 2017

At Summit Parkway, we believe that reading fosters imagination and creativity in students. Summer reading gives students the opportunity to strengthen their reading skills and to develop a lifelong love of reading! This summer, students are encouraged to keep a log of their literacy activities. Each activity is worth a certain amount of points. Students who earn at least 100 points will be invited to participate in a Summer Reading Celebration in the fall! Additionally, top point earners will be given special awards at the celebration! We hope that these literacy activities will help your children grow leaps and bounds as readers and writers this summer!
