RNE National Honor Society to induct new members

Members of the RNE National Honor Society celebrate after tapping. The formal induction ceremony will take place on January 7.
 

Columbia, SC: Richland Northeast High School’s John H. Hudgens Chapter of the National Honor Society will induct new members on January 7 at 7 p.m. in the Richland School District Two Auditorium.

Joining the Richland Northeast NHS are Stephanie Cole, John Lem, Kyra Murphy, Nia Harris, Ben Catoe, Christian Moore, Emily Walters, Shani Alston, Jasmine Blackwell, Anne Beaudette, Jerard Brown, Robert Borucki, Melanie Cheslak, Alexis Counts, Mekeda Dubard, Mary Duensing, Jemimah Ekeh, Jalissa Fulton, Erin Fisher, Nicholas Givens, Iesha Goyner, MaryKate Griffin, Robert Henry, Tiffany Hughes, Zachary Junis, Katherine Kelly, Maggie Lawrence, Katherine Littlejohn, Emily Lott, Rachel Lourie, Rebekah Lovit, Aden Mabruk, Savannah McAmis, Emily Padget, Caleb Brown, Kristin Scheuer, Craig Shuman, Darby Shuler, Anna Shulman, Sara Simpson, Crystal Stewart, Nicklos Tafel, Greer Theus, Cynthia Turner, Elizabeth Winslow, Yair Verdejo, and Christine Counts-Davis.

Officers for 2008-2009 are Gabbi Baker, president; Ashley Cohen-Burnell, vice president; Jennifer Dean, recording secretary; Rashida Beach, corresponding secretary; Kelsey Stegall, treasurer; LaQunya Baker, historian; and Tre'vell Anderson, social chair. Other returning members are Stephan Albrecht, Chandler Barton, Hannah Bise, Kyle Brown, Ben Brook, Maya Burney, Amber Cheslak, Connie Ding, Sam Disharoon, William Dye, Chelsea Eversmann, Chavis Howard, Jasmine James, Tiana Kindred, Elyse Kriegshaber, London Knight, Bruce Leal, Evander Manning, Allison Minsk, Lindsey Ruppert, Taryn Sanders, Whitney Sullivan, Zeb Virkus, Alexis Whitten, and Debby Zamora.

In addition to high grades and a clean discipline record, students accepted into the National Honor Society must have teacher recommendations and approval. Lindsay Rabin is the faculty advisor of the chapter, which is named for RNE’s first principal.

“These students are clearly among our best and brightest,” said Ralph Schmidt, RNE’s principal. “We’re all proud of them and look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish in the years to come.”
