Brown, Maya Burney, Ronald Carter, Amber Cheslak, Ashley Cohen-Burnell, Caroline Corley, Jennifer Dean, Nalana Dickson, Chen Ding, Samantha Disharoon, William Dye, Chelsea Eversmann, Chavis Howard, Jasmine James, Tiana Kindred, Elyse Kriegshaber, London Knight, Bruce Leal, James Manning, Allison Minsk, Lindsey Ruppert, Taryn Saunders, Kelsey Stegall, Whitney Sullivan, Jovi Thomas, Benjamin Virkus, and Alexis Whitten. “It’s not that you start high school thinking, ‘I want to be in the National Honor Society,’” said Frances Berger, president of the Richland Northeast NHS and a senior in the school’s Horizon magnet program. “But you work hard in your classes, get involved in community service and extracurricular activities, and when the time comes to apply you realize that you fulfill the requirements.” In addition, students accepted into the National Honor Society must have teacher recommendations and approval. Margot Jeffers is the faculty advisor of the chapter, which is named for RNE’s first principal. “These students are clearly among our best and brightest,” said Ralph Schmidt, RNE’s principal. “We’re all proud of them and look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish in the years to come.” The formal induction ceremony will take place on January 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the District Auditorium.
