Columbia, SC: Richland Northeast High School will hold its third annual open house and reception for its new military families on Thursday, June 18, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the school's Media Center. All entering RNE students from Fort Jackson are invited, along with their families.
RNE principal Ralph Schmidt is working with Fort Jackson's School Liaison Officer, Keisha McCoy-Wilson, to get the event set up. “RNE is a longtime supporter of the military's Local Action Plan," Schmidt said. "We want to give a special welcome our all our military students, including upperclassmen. It is important to get them familiar with the school, get their questions answered, and help them hit the ground running in August.” Administrators and teachers will be on hand, along with student volunteers. The format is informal, with parents, students, and teachers getting a chance to mingle and meet each other. The event will include a tour of the school.
