Winner of regional Poetry Out Loud recitation contest,
Carde to compete at statewide event

Columbia, SC: Hallie Carde, a junior in Richland Northeast High School's Horizon, Cavplex, and Palmetto Center for the Arts magnet programs, is one of nine regional winners from throughout South Carolina of the Region Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest, held in February during the South Carolina Book Festival. She will compete at the state level on March 10 at the Columbia Art Museum.

The state winner will receive a $200 cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC, in April to compete for the national prize and scholarships.

Earlier this year, Carde received an honorable mention at the South Carolina Young Poets Prize competition.
