Columbia, SC: Richland Northeast High School's Daniel Cammisa has been selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by The National Society of High School Scholars. Cammisa, a teacher in RNE's Math Department, was nominated by his student Carolynn Concepcion for his outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each year, student members of the NSHSS nominate the educators who made the most significant contribution to their academic career. The Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction award recognizes teacher role models who have made a lasting difference in their classroom by encouraging students to strive for high achievement. "We're so proud of Daniel," said Ralph Schmidt, RNE's principal. "He's one of those teachers who can increase his students interest in a subject and make them eager to take on more challenging work. The fact that he was nominated by one of his students says it all." For more information about the NSHSS, see www.nshss.org. -30- To return to RNE press page, close this window |
