RNE's PCA Theatre Company to present 'Brighton Beach Memoirs'

Columbia, SC: The Palmetto Center for the Arts Theatre Company at Richland Northeast High School will present Neil Simon’s comedy “Brighton Beach Memoirs” from November 16 through 19 in the new Drama Studio in D Building, part of RNE’s multimillion dollar arts renovation. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday and 3:00 on Sunday matinee. Tickets—$8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students— may be purchased in RNE’s Main Office or reserved by calling 699-2800 ext. 2833. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.

Winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, “Brighton Beach Memoirs” is one of Simon’s most widely respected works. The semi-autobiographical comedy plumbs the struggles of a Jewish family in Depression-era New York, after the father has a heart attack and the older son squanders his paycheck, the family’s only source of income. The story is told from the humorous but poignant perspective of fifteen-year-old Eugene Jerome, a stand-in for the playwright himself.

Starring in “Brighton Beach Memoirs” are Yotum Almor as Eugene, Stephanie Reeves as his mother, Jeff Driggers as his father, and Alec Grooms as his brother. Also featured are Lauren Corvi, Rachel Lourie, and Stephanie Walden.
