Light!Camera! 3DayFilm!
Columbia, SC:  3DayFilm, a film festival sponsored by the South Carolina Arts Commission, Columbia Museum of Art, and IndieReels Festival for High School Filmmakers, will kick off at 3 p.m. on August 7, 2008. From that point, middle- and high-school filmmakers who enter will have 72 hours—three days—to create and submit a short drama, comedy, documentary, or new media/animation no more than five minutes in length. The event will culminate on August 10 at 6 p.m. with a screening of entries at the museum.

To qualify for entry, each film must include three elements: a line of dialog and an object (to be announced on the South Carolina Arts Commission's Web site and in an e-mail to registered entrants at the start of the festival) as well as a literary character chosen by the filmmaker.

All rising 7th- through rising 12th-graders residing in South Carolina are eligible to enter, either individually or in teams. To enter, send an e-mail to 3dayfilm@gmail.com—entry guidelines will be sent by return e-mail.

Starting at 6 p.m. on August 10, 3DayFilm will first screen entries from rising 7th–9th graders, followed by entries from rising 10th - 12th graders. The reviewing panel will include Andy Smith, executive director of the Indie Grits Film Fest, and Gillian Albrecht, an actress and singer whose credits span Europe and Broadway.
