We wowed them at the State Fair

Mary Catherine Newman was named Winner of the 2009 South Carolina State Fair Student Art Education Teacher Award in the High School division for having the most student winners. It is the third year that she has received the award. All in all, RNE's PCA Visual Arts students had 41 works on exhibit —: more than any other school in the state — and 17 winners. First place winners were Katherine Hope, Barajas, Kelly, and Vera Shulman (Two-Dimensional Division) and Katie Shlon and Maria Zubizaretta (Three-Dimensional Division). Arielle Robinson took second place in Two-Dimensional and Laura Dorn took third. Ten students received Merit Awards: Jessica Hankins, Gideon Hodges, Katherine Johnson, Mary Kacsur, Jessica Keese, Olivia Livingston, Isabella Nunez, Kristen Scheuer, Emily Theus, and Alan Youngblood.
