Uniform Policy and Dress Code

Lake Carolina Elementary is a uniform school. Because we are a public school, the wearing of uniforms may not be mandated for attendance. However, 98% of our students and their families regularly comply with this policy. Wearing uniforms cultivates an atmosphere of structure and order, contributing to a quality learning environment for all students. School uniforms are an inexpensive way to clothe children, make the morning routine much easier, and put the focus on learning and academic success.

The last Friday of each month is a "Non-Uniform" day. Please check the school calendar for dates.

The clothing listed below can be found at most department stores, Wal-Mart, and Target. Also, several online companies offer school uniforms supplies. The following websites have been recommended:  www.landsend.com, www.frenchtoast.com and www.jcpenney.com.

We also offer a variety of shirts that are approved as uniform dress. Please return shirt order forms with payment to your child's teacher or the front office.

The following items of clothing are acceptable:

  • Khaki or navy blue bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers or scooters). Shorts should be "walking length" - below mid-thigh.

  • Polo shirts, blouses, turtlenecks and shirts with round collars may be worn in the following colors: hunter green, navy blue, burgundy or white. Shirts should be plain, solid colors and should not have any type of logo on them unless it is the Lake Carolina logo or school approved. It is preferred that shirts be tucked in at all times.

  • Black or brown belts are optional.

  • Shoes should be worn with safety in mind.  Students should not wear platform shoes or shoes with cleats.
