Dr.
Lynch
begins her tenth year in Richland District Two, having opened Lake
Carolina in 2002 after serving as principal at North Springs Elementary
for four years. She previously served as principal of Lugoff Elementary
in Kershaw County. She began her professional career in 1976, serving as
an elementary and middle school teacher, as well as the curriculum
coordinator and assistant principal for Lugoff Elementary before
becoming principal. Dr. Lynch has been named the William B. Harley
Administrator of the Year, South Carolina Female Educator of the Year,
Conservation Principal of the Year, South Carolina’s
National Distinguished Principal, a Milliken National Educator, is
employed as an Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern University and is
the only principal in the history of the Palmetto’s Finest recognition
program to have been the principal of two different schools earning this
state recognition. She has also served as President of the State
Association of Elementary Principals and most recently was recognized
for the Profile in Leadership Award. She enjoys attending Five Alive
services at Living Springs Lutheran Church.
Dr.
Lynch received her doctorate of education in educational leadership from
Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale Florida; a master of
education administration degree and a master’s plus 30 certificate from
Winthrop University and a B.A. in elementary education from Newberry
College.
Dr. Lynch has a strong sense of
community and believes that a school should be a happy, but serious,
work place where EVERYONE can feel and be successful!!! She loves to
read, go to movies, shop, and to practice a heart healthy lifestyle. She
and her husband, Lou, have two sons, one a graduate of the Citadel, and
the other a student at Central Carolina, and an English bulldog that
lives with her temporarily (hopefully) named Rudy. Dr. Lynch loves being
a principal and especially loves being a gator at the best school in the
universe, Lake Carolina Elementary!!!

Mrs.
Fickling
begins her tenth year with Richland Two as she begins her
third year as an assistant principal at Lake Carolina Elementary. She
has been with Lake Carolina Elementary since its opening, having taught
fifth and fourth grades. Her previous years with the district were at
North Springs Elementary where she taught fifth grade. Prior to this,
her classroom teaching experiences include first, second, and sixth
grades in Kershaw County at Lugoff Elementary and Midway
Elementary. While in Kershaw County, she was the Teacher of the Year and
one of the five District Honor Roll Teachers in 1994. Mrs. Fickling has
attended The Roper Mountain Science Institute and is a ropes course
facilitator for the district. She has been trained in Differentiated
Instruction as well as Integrated Thematic Instruction (ITI). Other
professional training includes STEP evaluation for the professionals,
Santa Cruz model for mentoring teachers, and data analysis in “Climbing
the Data Ladder” for Richland Two.
Mrs. Fickling earned her Masters Degree for Administration in Education
from Capella University. Prior to this degree, she earned a B.A. in
Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Early Childhood from the University of
South Carolina. In the year 2000, she earned National Board Certification
as a Middle Childhood/Generalist. Mrs. Fickling and her husband, Bob,
have two sons, one who graduated from The Citadel in May and is now
commissioned in the Navy and the other who is a senior at The Citadel.

Mr.
Newton
graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor’s degree
in Elementary Education, from Webster University with a Master of Arts
in Clinical Counseling, and from the University of South Carolina with a
Masters in Education Administration.
Mr. Newton begins his 12th
year in Richland School District Two and second year at Lake Carolina
Elementary as an assistant principal. Before arriving at Lake Carolina
Elementary, Mr. Newton taught seven years as a fourth grade teacher at
North Springs Elementary and three years at E.L. Wright Middle School as
an English, math, and science teacher. Mr. Newton also served as the
interim head basketball coach at Spring Valley High School from
1996-1997 and served as an assistant basketball coach at Richland
Northeast High School for three years.
He has been married for fours years to his wife
Latasha. They have two sons, Arkevious (15) and Jermail (11). He enjoys
reading, lifting weights, and watching football and basketball.
Mr. Newton has participated in math workshops, completed
Fred Jones course on discipline, trained in Integrated Thematic
Instruction, Learning Centered Schools, STEP, and served as a Team
Leader for several years. |
