Dr. James Ann Lynch
begins her eleventh year in Richland District Two, having
opened Lake Carolina in 2002 after serving as principal at North Springs
Elementary for four years. She began her professional career in 1976,
serving as an elementary and middle school teacher, as well as the
curriculum coordinator and assistant principal for Lugoff Elementary
before becoming principal at Lugoff Elementary. Dr. Lynch has been named
the William B. Harley Administrator of the Year, South Carolina Female
Educator of the Year, Conservation Principal of the Year, South
Carolina’s National Distinguished Principal, a Milliken National
Educator, is employed as an Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern
University and is the only principal in the history of the Palmetto’s
Finest recognition program to have been the principal of three different
schools earning this state recognition. Most recently she was extremely
proud to be a part of the celebration when Lake Carolina earned the
recognition of being a National Blue Ribbon School. Dr. Lynch has served
as President of the State Association of Elementary Principals and most
recently was recognized for the Profile in Leadership Award by Dr.
Stephen Hefner. In addition, TEAM LCE was named 2008 TEAM of the Year in
Richland District Two. She is a member of St. John’s United Methodist
Church and enjoys attending Women’s Studies at Northeast Presbyterian
Church. Dr. Lynch received her Doctorate of Education in Educational
Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale Florida;
a Master of Education Administration Degree and a Master’s plus 30
certificate from Winthrop University, and a B.A. in elementary education
from Newberry College.
Dr. Lynch has a strong sense of community and believes
that a school should be a happy, but serious, work place where EVERYONE
can feel and be successful!!! She loves to read, go to movies, shop, and
to practice a heart healthy lifestyle. She enjoys yoga, step aerobics,
the elyptical, and an occasional zumba class. She and her husband, Lou,
have two sons, one a Business graduate of the Citadel who recently
married the love of his life, Tracey, and the other a student at
Newberry College majoring in Physical Education and minoring in Spanish.
She also has an English bulldog who lives with her temporarily
(hopefully) named Rudy. Dr. Lynch loves being a principal and especially
loves being a gator at the best school in the universe, Lake Carolina
Elementary!!!

Dr. Andrea Berry
has worked in education for the
past 15 years. She began teaching in an inner city school in Austin,
Texas after completing her Bachelor of Science degree at the University
of Texas. There, she taught science and was trained in focusing on
multiple intelligences and teaching gifted students.
She then moved to
Bangkok, Thailand and taught in an international school for two years.
She taught second grade and middle school science. A professional
highlight of her time overseas was in leading 60 middle school students
to spend a few days at a Thai orphanage. While there, they not only
planted pineapple trees for the home’s future income, but also just
spent time playing with the children.
She returned to the
United States to work on her Masters degree in Administration at
Columbia International University. While in school, she taught high
school physical science part time at Ben Lippen School. When she
returned to the public school, she worked in Lexington One teaching
middle school science once again and earned her National Board
Certification in Early Adolescent Science in 2000.
She came to Richland
School District Two in 2001 to teach science at E.L.Wright Middle
School. She enjoyed serving as a department chair of science, working
with the Middle School Task Force, and being a part of the faculty as
they achieved the Palmetto’s Finest Award. She moved to help open Kelly
Mill Middle School in 2004 by piloting a technology class. She completed
her Doctorate in School Leadership in 2006 and then worked at Keels
Elementary as an assistant principal for the past two years. She is very
excited about joining the Gator team and meeting all the students,
faculty, and families!
She has been married for 10 years and has two wonderful
young children ages 3 and 4. She enjoys spending time with her family
and friends and is a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Arthur Newton graduated from South Carolina State
University with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education, from Webster
University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling, and from the
University of South Carolina with a Masters in Education Administration.
Mr. Newton begins his 13th year in Richland
School District Two and third year at Lake Carolina Elementary as an
assistant principal. Before arriving at Lake Carolina Elementary, Mr.
Newton taught seven years as a fourth grade teacher at North Springs
Elementary and three years at E.L. Wright Middle School as an English,
math, and science teacher. Mr. Newton also served as the interim head
basketball coach at Spring Valley High School from 1996-1997 and served
as an assistant basketball coach at Richland Northeast High School for
three years.
He has been married for five years to his wife Latasha.
They have three sons, Arkevious (16), Jermail (12), and Kaleb (6
months). He enjoys reading, lifting weights, and watching football and
basketball.
Mr. Newton has participated in math workshops, completed Fred Jones
course on discipline, trained in Integrated Thematic Instruction,
Learning Centered Schools, STEP, and served as a Team Leader for several
years. |
