This
is a program developed for seventh and eighth grade students to help them
discover and foster interests in math, science and engineering. |
|
Students will use the SIMCITY
software to design & build a futuristic city and write a 300 to 500-word
abstract describing their city. |
|
|
Students
will prepare a 500 to 700-word essay on the problem posed by the Future City
Competition. |
|
|
The
students will then present their futuristic city at the regional
competition which will be held at USC
Aiken campus on January 26, 2007. |
|
If
students win the regional competition, they can participate in the nation
competition, which will be held in Washington, D.C. |
|
|
This
competition will give students an introduction to different types of
engineering, from civil to electrical, chemical to mechanical. |
|
|
It will also teach them skills such
as writing, public speaking, teamwork, time management, problem solving and
new computer skills. |
