Description The National Engineers Week Future City Competition

Other  This is a program developed for seventh and eighth grade students to help them discover and foster interests in math, science and engineering. 
Students will use the SIMCITY software to design & build a futuristic city and write a 300 to 500-word abstract describing their city.
Students will prepare a 500 to 700-word essay on the problem posed by the Future City Competition.  
The students will then present their futuristic city at the regional competition  which will be held at USC Aiken campus on January 26, 2007. 
If students win the regional competition, they can participate in the nation competition, which will be held in Washington, D.C.  
This competition will give students an introduction to different types of engineering, from civil to electrical, chemical to mechanical. 
It will also teach them skills such as writing, public speaking, teamwork, time management, problem solving and new computer skills.
