One of our goals at BHE is to provide our teachers with the tools and training necessary to use technology as a natural part of daily instruction in all grade levels. The faculty and staff at Bethel-Hanberry Elementary are committed to excellence in education. The integration of technology into classroom instruction helps ensure an excellent educational experience for all of our students. Richland School District Two Student Technology Standards are the guideline for technology instruction. This document indicates minimum skills and standards for students on each grade level. The instructional technology specialist works with classroom teachers to ensure the integration of technology into classroom instruction. In addition, technology skills and standards are taught by the instructional technology and media staff in all computer labs. |

Bethel-Hanberry’s computer lab (Lab 202) serves all students in kindergarten through fifth grade in regularly scheduled classes. The lab contains thirty Dell workstations with networked color printers. This lab houses a wide variety of technology for everyone to use - digital cameras, 35 mm cameras, video cameras, presentation televisions, video cassette recorders, digital projectors and SmartBoard. All classrooms have digital projectors with SmartBoards. We have a wireless mobile lab for teachers to check out for classroom use. The second computer lab (Lab 200) is available to all classes on a flexible schedule. Although this lab is primarily used as a writing lab, teachers may sign up to use this lab for whole class instruction or for smaller group projects. The Instructional Technology Specialist, Mrs. Gwen Rankin, works with all teachers for meaningful integration of technology in classrooms, plans instructional activities in Lab 202 and coordinates use of Lab 200.
