Iditarod Links


The Iditarod sled-dog race is run on a trail that was originally a mail supply route.  In 1925, part of the trail became a lifesaving highway for the children who lived in Nome, Alaska.

Today the Iditarod is a race that commemorates that historic event. The first commemorative race was held in 1973 when thirty-five mushers and sled dog teams followed the 1925 route.
