Student Population & Dress Code
Students of Blythewood Academy come from both the middle and high school programs. They have been to a discipline hearing at Richland 2 District Office and have been given an opportunity to complete the program in lieu of expulsion.
Dress Code
Students are required to wear the school uniform to school everyday. Standards of dress are as follows:
Bottoms: Khaki (tan only) pants, shorts, and/or skirts (knee length); belts must be worn everyday. Pants must be the correct waist size.
Tops - White shirts with collars to accommodate ties for young men and white blouses or shirts for young ladies. NO LOGOS are permitted on shirts. Young men must wear neckties everyday. White under shirts are permitted but cannot have logos. Coats and jackets must be plain only. Logos on jackets or coats are also prohibited.
Footwear - Comfortable walking shoes (no sneakers) or boots may be worn but must be laced and tied. Untied shoes/boots with open flaps will not be tolerated. Socks for young men and socks or other appropriate legwear for young ladies.
Jewelry - Jewelry is not permitted for either young men or ladies. Watches are permitted but must not have beeping devices that will disrupt the learning environment. Young ladies may wear stud earrings.
Students are met
by staff prior to classes to confirm dress code compliance. Students who fail to
meet dress code requirements are sent to the in-school detention area so they can call and
make arrangements with parents to remedy the problem. Students who are unable to
make arrangements with home will spend the remainder of the day in in-school detention.
