 INTO SPEECH AND LANGUAGE

The speech program for Child Development provides small group speech therapy sessions to each student that is identified as needing speech services.
There are a number of ways to be identified. The most common manner is as a result of a speech and language screening that is administered at the beginning of each school year to all new students. If the screening instrument identifies some areas of concern, permission from the child's parents is requested to conduct a full speech and language evaluation. Upon completion of the evaluation, if warranted, the parents are asked to meet with the speech therapist in order for their child to be enrolled into the speech program. There are also occasions that a child is referred by either the classroom teacher or the parents. Both instances are welcomed and appreciated.
When addressed at an early age, speech and language delays can be remedied easier and faster.
